When designing WebEngine our main goal was to create a flexible and robust website platform. Expression Engine and Wordpress are both excellent products so we used those as our standards to beat. WebEngine is built to be more flexible than Expression Engine and more robust than Wordpress.
Both WP and EE define themselves as publishing platforms, WebEngine is more than just a publishing platform it is designed to be the core of almost any type of website (ecommerce, promotional, church, etc).
